Laos-China 1035 km railway launched with Huawei’s 5G technology

1035 kilometers long Laos-China railway has been launched recently with the support of Huawei’s 5G technology and smart railway solution. 

To celebrate the grand opening of the Laos-China Railway, an event was organized where the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party were present virtually. 

This Laos-China Railway is of great significance to bilateral economic, social, and cultural exchanges as well as regional connectivity and makes contributions to regional development and prosperity. Traveling from the China-Laos border to the Vientiane capital has shortened from two days to three hours. Departing from Kunming and arriving in Vientiane can now be achieved on the same day. 

Huawei Smart Railway Solution has supported the Laos-China Railway in the digitalization efforts, enabling advances in safety and security across all aspects of the railway, including construction, operations, and maintenance. At the same time, Huawei works closely with the Laos telecom operators to build the high-speed network, ensure stable connectivity; the advanced technology has benefited the Laos people and passengers.

“The launching of the Laos-China Railway is a great vision of the leaders of both countries. Huawei worked together with the Laos telecom operators to build the wireless network along the railway.” Said by Dr. Boviengkham VONGDARA, Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos 

The project director of Huawei Laos, Somlith Nammanininh said, “I believe the Laos-China Railway will foster the economy, help Laos to integrate into the global market, create more opportunities for the local business and people.” 

Bangladesh is also set for 5G soft launch on December 12, with the support of the world’s leading 5G technology services and infrastructure provider, Huawei. Like other countries, Bangladesh will have the opportunities to utilize this advance technology in various industrial and development works.

BSEC chairman Shibli Rubayat resigns

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam resigned today.

He sent his resignation letter to the official concerned at the finance ministry.

He stepped down citing health reasons, said Abdur Rahman, secretary of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, confirming receipt of the letter.

The development came five days after Sheikh Hasina’s government fell and she fled Bangladesh in the face of a civil uprising.

Islam has remained absent from work for the past several days.

Islam, a Dhaka University teacher, was appointed as chairman of the BSEC in 2020. Last May, he was reappointed for another four-year tenure.
