Bangladesh clinched their maiden T20I series victory over Pakistan with a thrilling eight-run win in the second match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday night.

After being sent to bat first, the hosts were reduced to 30 for four before Zakir Hasan Anik and Mahedi Hasan rebuilt the innings with a vital 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Despite regular fall of wickets, Zakir anchored the innings, scoring 55 off 48 balls, including one four and five sixes, to guide Bangladesh to a competitive 133 all out in 20 overs.

Mahedi contributed 33 off 30 deliveries before being caught attempting a big shot. None of the other batters managed to reach double figures, with Liton Das scoring 8 and Parvez Hossain Emon making 13. Debutant Pakistani pacer Ahmed Daniyal took two wickets along with Abbas Afridi and Salman Mirza. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one wicket each.

Chasing 134, Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, losing wickets in regular intervals. The visitors were reduced to 24 for five within the first five overs, with Saim Ayub being run out in the opening over and Mohammad Haris dismissed for a duck soon after.

Shariful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Mahedi Hasan dismantled the top order, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman ensured there was no late resurgence.

Faheem Ashraf offered some resistance with a fighting 51 off 31 balls, hitting four fours and four sixes, but was bowled by Rishad in the penultimate over. Daniyal tried to keep the chase alive with 17 off 11 balls but fell to Mustafizur in the final over as Pakistan were bowled out for 125.

The win gave Bangladesh an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, marking their first-ever T20I series triumph over Pakistan.
